A: Speaking: Discuss the proven success and potential of GS. Here present factoids about GS (# of certifications, explosive growth of program, other info from K. Jesch and GS manual), demonstrating the excitement and momentum of GS within our denomination. Then we cite 3-4 examples of GS churches around the country and BRIEFLY highlight some of their greatest success stories. 30-second mini-case studies (possibilities: Davis, Ann Arbor, Portland, etc.)
B: Visual/Other: “The GS Action Plan” – i.e., the “cycle” visual from the GS manual. We would NOT walk through the cycle step by step but merely have it as a supporting visual while discussing the points above.
As a minor point—I would think we’d put the info about the strong appeal and growth of GS (growth rate, enthusiasm of contacted folks, etc) in the previous block/slide, leaving the congregation specific examples for this block. Not a biggie.
I’ll work up very brief snapshots of Portland and probably Ann Arbor to post here by Sunday AM. Portland is an example of the influence that a mature enviro program can have on the whole city; Ann Arbor is a younger program that is still organizing the kind of comprehensive program we ~envision.
Roger, I think you may be right about the sequencing: the compelling momentum of GS growth in the previous block, specific best practices/case studies in this block. Makes more sense to go from general to specific. We may need to juggle the visuals a bit, but that shouldn’t be too hard.
